The Honest Horsewoman's founder, Kelli Murphy, is a life-long learner and lover of horses. She helps empower others to share their passion for horses and all they have to teach us. Better businesses do better for their horses.
She has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Animal Science with a focus on Equine Business Management from the University of Connecticut, where she trained horses and was Captain of the Morgan Horse Drill Team. She has over 10 years of experience helping to run horse farms of all sizes - from 3 horse backyard barns to busy lesson facilities with 60+ horses.
Kelli knows this industry isn't just about horses — it's early mornings, endless paperwork, and juggling a dozen roles at once. Our programs are designed to take some of that off your plate, so you can spend less time on logistics and more time doing what you love.

What "style" of training do you teach?
We are a non-competitive, non-traditional barn. Our horses live natural lives and we seek to enrich their lives with our presence instead of the other way around.
We value the horse's consent in all the work we do, and frequently practice skills at liberty with our horses.
